Typically the Washington ski season ends in late April or early May, but Crystal Mt pushed its season to June 16 in 2002 and July 14 in 1999. Last year they were open till May 30th, and now they are talking about " skiing into summer ” again.
Crystal Mt might be dubbing itself “King of Spring ”, but there are many other ski areas in Washington that decided to prolong their season.
Alpental will rage on through May 6th (or later) with plenty of merriment planned for Cinco de Mayo including a costume contest, hot pepper eating contest and piñata for the youngsters. Summit Central will keep the lifts turning at least through April 15th, perhaps longer.
The last day of March the area received another 7" of powdery goodness. The snow kept coming, but by 5m...it was clear blue sky and lot's of sun ! Gotta love spring skiing !
...and don't forget, there is only one place in the United States where the chairlift runs all year – the Palmer Snowfield on Mount Hood. Gonna put it on my Bucket List :)
